When you're planning a road trip, it is a smart idea to pack some things that can help keep the kids entertained. When they are tired of looking at the scenery, eating snacks and asking how much longer the ride will be, the kids will be delighted to discover that their parents have put together some craft ideas for the road.
Craft projects that are simple and mess free are ideal for car trips. Stickers or adhesive backed foam shapes, glue dots and pre-cut paper pieces are all good choices for craft kits. Markers, glue sticks and clay are a few supplies to avoid.
- Cut postcard size shapes from card stock. Select stickers and foam shapes with a theme that matches some of the activities your children will be doing during the trip. Encourage them to use the supplies to make postcards to send to families and friends.
- Combine yarn, plastic canvas and a blunt tipped plastic embroidery needle to make some fun bookmark kits that will help your children learn some simple embroidery stitches.
- Put together a travel journal or scrapbook by combining a blank book, glue dots, stickers, maps and other items that can help your child preserve special memories during the trip.
