Looking for healthy recipe ideas? You don’t necessarily have to give up the foods you love—just make subtle changes to how you prepare and season them. One quick and easy way to make a meal healthier is to reduce the amount of salt added.

Excess salt can have even more adverse effects than saturated fat and cholesterol.  Over time, it can have potentially detrimental impacts on your digestive system, heart, and kidneys. If a food recipe calls for salt, simply leave it out, or reduce it by half. Also avoid prepackaged seasoning mixes, as these often contain high levels of salt.
