Flowering shrubs are a great way to add color and a natural border to your garden or your property. When picking flowering shrubs to plant, one of the most important decisions to make is what size shrub you want as this will greatly impact how it fits in or doesn’t fit in with your overall landscaping plans. Some striking small shrubs are the Carolina rose and the Japanese kerria. The Carolina rose has pretty pink flowers while the Japanese kerria has bright yellow flowers.
If you want to go up one step to medium flowering shrubs, some great choices are the cornelian cherry dogwood with its tiny yellow flowers or the doublefile viburnum which blooms with white flowers. Finally, if you really want or need a large shrub for your yard, some good choices are the amur maple with its yellow-white flowers or the hybrid witchhazel with flowers varying from yellow to red. Regardless of the flowering shrub you choose, it’s sure to add to the beauty of your yard.
