With heart disease ranking as the #1 cause of death in the United States, much attention has been given to prevention measures. Aerobic exercise is recommended by doctors as one of the primary ways to achieve optimum health and fitness and reduce the likelihood of heart disease.

Recommended cardio workouts include walking exercises, jogging, biking, and swimming, all of which strengthen the heart and lungs and help the body to more efficiently use oxygen. Doctors estimate that regular cardio workouts can reduce the chances of heart disease by up to 25%.
