It was now six weeks after the boys had arrived from Korea, it was December, and it was finally time for Brandon’s hernia surgery. He had now gained enough weight to withstand the anesthetic from the surgery, but to me, he still looked so small and vulnerable. I arranged for the surgery and when the day came, I arrived two hours before the operation was to begin to finish paperwork and get him ready.
